Sir, I think section 2 and section 3 seem difficult because of question type like map or diagram and MCQ of different categories.Students can easily lose some of these
questions. However, fill the gap type questions are based on grammar .So, in this case , grammar can help to find the answer.

Some of the students who comment here can teach Simon and all the other IELTS experts about the exam. They know so much about the test, but when it comes to showing results - that's a different story.

Hi Simon!

I have a question about discussion type - "government-personal regulation" essays. Can I outline them in the following way:
1. Introduction
2. Why the government should regulate
3. Why the government should not regulate
4. Conclusion
Is it plausible to write counter arguments in the second paragraph instead of explaining why it is a personal matter?
For example, in this topic:
Excessive consumption of sugar causes many health related issues. Some people believe that the government should control population’s sugar intake while others think people themselves should be responsible for their sugar eating habits. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Many of my students say that Section 3 is harder than Section 4. I think so myself :). In Section 4 you kind of go with the flow, in Section 3 sometimes it's quite tricky to understand when people agree/disagree, etc.

Inr

In my view, the question asks 'to discuss both views', so not discussing the issue of personal responsibility would mean that your plan would fail to 'address all parts of the task', which is the hurdle that must be cleared for Band 7.

Hi Simon,

I really need your help on this.I dont have issue with Section 4, i almost get 10/10 or 9/10 in that section. My issue lies with Section 2 and 3. Especially the one match the following, where they give a-e/f and i-iv and we have to match them.

Section 1 as well i get 9 or 10 most of the times.

Section 3 is more difficult than section 4 for me. I can have 8-9 correct answers in section 4, but 5-8 correct answers in section 3.
