"a plethora of" is marked as formal.

"plenty of" is common spoken vocabulary and means the same thing:

:-)

I would be great if my corrections above can be corrected as well hahaha :-),please.

1. In the age of the Internet, there is a plethora of options.
2. Without this website, my study would definitely be affected.
3. If YouTube ceased to exist, I would find myself struggling to find the information I need.
4. I think it wouldn't be possible for me to become more up-to-date and skillful if there were nothing like YouTube.
5. Life also wouldn't be so easy and flexible as it is right now than before when we used to depend much on CDs.

I tried not to change the structures of these sentences. Is it a good practice?

Thank you, Binh Dep Trai :-)

@ Binh Dep Trai
... for me it definately is .I love it. :-)

1. Improved: Don’t use words like “plethora” in speaking part 1&2, or even part 3. They sound forced and pretentious. Examiners know you try to impress them, but using those big words may actually have a bad impact on your score.

In the age of the internet, there are plenty of/ loads of options.

2. Corrected: Second conditional
If this website didn’t* exist, then definitely my study would be affected.

3. Corrected: Second conditional
If YouTube ceased* to exist, I would* find myself struggling to find much-needed information.

4. Improved & Corrected: Second conditional & “nothing like”
I think it would* be impossible* to keep myself updated with the lastest news and trends in my field if there was* no* Youtube / if YouTube didn’t exist.

5. Improved & Corrected: Second conditional
Life also wouldn’t* be so easy* and flexible like now. It would be like when we used to depend mainly on offline resources such as CDs, physical books and magazines, what have you.

1. In the age of the internet, there are a lot of options.
2. If this website didn't exist, then my study would be affected.
3. If YouTube ceased to exist, I would find myself struggling to find the much-needed information.
4. I think it would be impossible for me to be more up-to-date and skillful if there was nothing like Youtube.
5. Life isn't also much easier and more flexible now than before if we depend much on CDs.

FROM SIMON:

First I'll explain the main problem(s) with each sentence.

1) This sentence is here because of the word 'plethora', which sounds too pompous and forced in this context. I wanted to see if people had read the lesson below (which contains a comment from an IELTS examiner):

https://ielts-simon.com/ielts-help-and-english-pr/2019/05/ielts-advice-big-words-dont-impress.html

2 - 5) These four sentences contain mistakes involving conditionals. Check the verbs carefully!

FROM SIMON (continued):

Here are my suggested versions:

1) In the age of the Internet, the options are endless.

2) If this website didn't exist, my studies would definitely be affected.

3) If YouTube ceased to exist, I would struggle to find the information that I need.

4) I don't think I would be able to keep my skills up to date if YouTube didn't exist.

5) Also, my life wouldn't be so easy if I had to depend on CDs.

Thank you very much :-)

Dear Simon,
I took the exam in the end of May, and the part 2 was about 'describe a time when you received a service that you were not satisfied with.'
Thank you for your great website. I have learnt so much from your website, but I think that would be a good idea if you kindly give some focus on this topic too, so that we can also get prepared for this one.

Siamak,

That's a good task. I'll use it in a lesson.
