Here's a tricky question from Cambridge IELTS 11 (General test 3). What answer would you choose, and why?
Question statement (true, false or not given?):
Bus drivers do not give change so you must have the correct money for a ticket.
What the passage says:
Buy your bus ticket from the bus driver, with the correct money if possible.

false

False because 'giving correct moneyif possible' means it is preferred but it is false to say that drivers do not give change.

Hi
we must first consider the passage then the question which is is an important tip here. The answer surely is( Not given )as the passage says :Buy your ticket which is a suggestion from the driver with correct money if possible. The question says you must which is a limiting word and also there in not any info on :Bus drivers don t give change, so the answer is not given.

FALSE
If possible - means the possibility
if you have the exact amount that would be good, otherwise the driver will give you change.
The passage doesn't say that you are allowed to buy a ticket only if you have the correct money.

Question: Must have the correct money
Ans: With the correct money if possible

Well, I think the possibility here plays its role.
I would give a False answer due to it.
the correct answer should be:
you should buy a ticket from a driver with the correct money. otherwise, you might say to the driver: keep the change, as an ethical choice.
In general, what passage has said here:
The first choice, buy it with the right money.
The second choice, in case you don't have the right amount you might loose change because the drivers don't have.
yes, it is tricky Mr.Simon but it is a logical question.
Please give me your feedback about it.

false as there is MUST versus Possible.

True.
"Must have" is an idea including "if possible" . The latter can be seen as a sub-concept.

paraphrasing the sentence in a similar way which is the main trick for reading part of ielts.

CORRECT ANSWER FROM SIMON:
False
The confusing thing is that nothing is mentioned about whether bus drivers give change.
However, the phrase "with the correct money if possible" contradicts the idea that you "must have the correct money". It is clear that having the correct money is NOT obligatory.
If you put 'not given' as the answer, I understand why, and I agree that the question is tricky.
