Dear Simon,

How useful it is to search the groups of words you suggest. I think, in this way, it could be more enjoyable to learn them, leading to using them in essays effectively.

Hi Simon
Can I use proverbs and idioms in ielts writing task 2.plz reply

Hi simon
It’s nice to be here to have precious opportunities to communicate with you. I want to say your excellent work really helps many students learn English. Recently I have continually work on your website, and I feel my English improved. Thanks.
I actually have one question about you essay, which a bit confuses me.
From you archive “salary essay” (Wednesday, April 30, 2014), there is a sentence which you put it “Firstly, personal relationships and the atmosphere in a workplace are extremely important when choosing a job.” I don’t know whether this sentence is right or not. I have learned from my teacher when the object of subordinate clause is in accordance with main clause, the object in subordinate clause can be omitted from the sentence. So could you tell me what you omits form “when choosing a job”. I am looking forward you reply, thank you advance.
Best Regards
Jack Yam

Hi Jack,

The sentence that you highlighted is quite normal / common in English, so I wasn't thinking about grammar rules when I wrote it.

The part I missed out would be: "when A PERSON IS choosing a job". As I said, this omission is very normal.

Dear Simon
I used your video lessons for both writing task1 and task2, which were really helpful. Now, I don't know how to practice writing. I believe that the best source is the samples which you've uploaded here in your blog. But, is it better to start from the latest samples you uploaded (in 2017) or the earliest ones (e.g. in 2011)? I have about one month to the exam and I want to make the most of it. Please guide me how to practice.
Best wishes
