I still remenber when I was the first in my primary school,it was an lesson was so attracting was that the teacher told us how to read the clock. You know,that was wildly essential for me later in my life.Before I entered class I was actually had been told how to tell a time,but I still didn't have any sense of how the clock moves connected to the real life,because you wouldn't know how little I was. The teacher first demonstrated s gaint clock with three hands,when he moved one of them he told us the day was over,and never return. I was so inspired by how he illustrated the idea of "time is flying" from this class.As time goes by, I coudn't foget he told us " be appreiciated the time. I think this is an unfogetable and meaningful lesson. For a kid,I picked up the general knowlege and the tresure of time whole life long. Save time for the my patient when I work as a nurse. Don't let your loved ones to wait for you so long. Time is precious and time is mony. So I believe this math class is so amazing and important for me. The insiring ideas last forever.

this sure is difficult for those who weren't attentive enough in their maths classes at primary school.

i think we could talk about how we learned to carry out arithmetic operations like addition or
multiplication which are certainly important in our daily lives.

(i'm assuming those elementary operations are taught in primary school)

I think we need to take this question pretty lightly. By that I mean, what do we all learn in maths lesson at primary school? : Addition and subtraction. ( I don't think you have to worry about the fact that you don't remember anything or weren't attentive in maths classes ) We just have to describe how we use addition and subtraction in our everyday life and why its so important to learn them at a very young age.. What are you guys thinking ?

We learned multiplication, Division, LCM, GCD Or how to draw a circle and how to distinguish different parts of circle.

Remember, the speaking test is NOT a knowledge test. The first and simplest idea that comes to you in Part 2 is always the best idea, because it allows you the most time to brainstorm some details.

I have given candidates this question before, and most of them choose 'how to add' because it is the most obvious idea. Good candidates talk about how easy/difficult it was to learn, how good/bad they were at learning it, and how they use addition in their daily lives today (at the supermarket, playing games etc).

I will talk about time lessons.

Back to my childhood,when i was at primary school,i remember that our teachers taught us different lessons for instance mathematics which was important lesson in primary school.Interestingly,i suppose that multiplication and division also addition and subtraction were the most significant we have learned.besides that,another lessons were taught for example history and scientists and another important lessons.

there are many beneficial lessons i learned in maths subject , the most remarkable one was addition and subtraction 2 different numbers
at the beginning i found it too hard and difficult to be understood but after many sessions i found it easy and amusement , till this moment I'm using this lesson in my daily life in selling and buying goods from stores

I agree with Christine. Let's not think too deeply about this question. I would just talk about simple maths (addition and subtraction) that I still use every day when making payments etc. Or perhaps it would be easy to talk about memorising multiplication tables (often called 'times tables' in English e.g. 1x2, 2x2, 3x2 etc.).

chariness.I remembered that a math lesson after examination. My teacher hand out the papers and explain the examination questions. He said”the gap betwwen 100 points and 98 points is not just 2 points, the student of 100 grade pocess more chariness and more excellent, under the same circumstances, 98 of the students can only be in the second tier.”. That makes me understand that the chariness are very important .

I just finished my ielts speaking test and met this qurstion!!!!
Surely, it was scared me! My mind was empty.,, and finally I answered how to read, draft and analysis chart. Well, I did too much task 1 writing hahaha.
Anyway, I think that it is not that important to answer what you learned. The most important part is how to extend it and make the speech rich. Once you take some personal experiences like how to use the chart in your daily life, how to apply it in your study. It will be more easy to talk 2 mins.
Anyway I still can’t believe this is my Ietls real test question...

I just took IELTS test las Saturday 7/07 and the topic in my speaking test was about math. Part 2 was as follow:
Mention one lesson you learned about maths when as a child.
1. What did you learned?
2 How did you learned?
3. It is helpful nowadays?
And explain why it was important to learn about it..

After that part three was about :

What age do you think children should learn maths?
Is maths essential for everybody?
What do you suggest should governments do in order to help adults to learn about maths...
