Last week I used Cambridge IELTS book 11 for the first time. Here's my first keyword table for this book; it's for test 1, passage 2.

What do you think about IELTS-11? I still wondering why there was no any sample essay being prepared by IELTS examiner this time?

1.The Falkirk Wheel has linked the Forth & Clyde canal with the Union Canal for the first time in their history. - False
'reconnecting the historic waterways' - the word'reconnecting' indicates this not the FIRST time they are connecting (connecting again).

It is written in the text 'historically, the two canals had been joined' but does the text reflect whether Falkirk Wheel joined them (two canals) first time?

Question no. 1 is an ambiguous one that is why I am confounded.
Forth & Clyde Canal joined with Union Canal for the first time in their history. -- False.
The Falkirk Wheel has linked the Forth & Clyde canal with the Union Canal for the first time in their history. -- Not given

The answer is clearly false. The text says that they 'had been joined' previously, so The Falkirk Wheel did NOT join them for the first time.
The question is not asking if The Falkirk Wheel joined them previously, so this is not relevant.

Yes, I'm wondering the same thing! Maybe this is a good thing - in the other books, every sample answer seems to be written in a different way, so I never found them very helpful.
