Hi Simon,
I have a question about this writing topic which you had a lesson before:
Some people believe that studying at university or college is the best route to a successful career, while others believe that it is better to get a job straight after school. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Could I write a balance opinion like for these students who are talented and have career aspirations are clearly suited to the academic route of a university degree (one paragraph); while for those students without a specific career goal in mind and not so talented in academic study should take practical vocational training straight after school (another paragraph).

Thank you for your time.
Mia

ANSWERS FROM SIMON:

First I'll explain the problems:

1. "to gathering" is wrong, and I wouldn't use the verb "gather" at all. Also, "an adds" mixes singular and plural, and it should be "ad" or "advert", not "add". Finally, we don't say "published on a newspaper", we say "published in".

2. "it has A good rating ON..."

3. "My husband and I" (not "me"). We also need to change "all people" and "are looking".

4. "Gather" is the problem again. I wouldn't use this word in this context.

5. This is a fixed phrase: "keep up the good work" (not "with your good work").

6. We need the (fixed) phrase "I can't thank you enough". We also need to change "make this even more better" - this part is wrong.

FROM SIMON (continued)

Now here are my corrected sentences:

1. We were looking for a place to MEET / GET TOGETHER / HAVE DINNER / CELEBRATE, and we found YOUR RESTAURANT through an ad / advert published IN a newspaper.

2. Because it has A good rating ON the (name of app) app, my friends and I went to your restaurant.

3. My husband and I visited YOUR RESTAURANT to celebrate (name of occasion e.g. "his birthday"). EVERYONE around us LOOKED happy.

4. We love to MEET UP / GET TOGETHER, grab a beer and watch some sport every Friday.

5. Keep up THE good work.

6. I CAN't thank YOU enough FOR MAKING IT SUCH A SPECIAL EVENING.

1.maybe- had been looking,advertisement instead of adds.
2.I and my friends went to your restaurant due to it has good rating

Hi, Simon.
I have a question about your 5th answer.
In fact, using right preposition is quite difficult, so it always makes me confused. However, as far as I've learned KEEP UP is supposed to be used with WITH in this context. Is there any reason why you took the preposition out?

I look forward to your answer.

my observations.

1. gathering -> gather
2. has -> had
3. are -> were
4. sport -> sports
5. more is redundant.

We were looking for a place to gather and we found it through an ad. published in a newspaper.

As it has good rating in the app, I and my friends chose to visit your restaurant.

My husband and I visited there to celebrate it. All people around us were very happy and cheerful.

We love to gather, grab a beer and watch some sports every Friday.

Keep up the good work.

I couldn't thank enough for making this even better than my expectations.
