FROM SIMON:

First, I'll try to explain what is wrong with each sentence:

1. You can't write "make calls was...". The subject of the sentence should be the percentage of people.

2. Using "second place, third place" makes this sound like a competition! Also, we should try to include some figures in this sentence.

3. "Playing games and music" didn't "HAVE" anything, so we need to find a different way to express this idea.

4. The passive "was increased" is wrong here. It should be a normal active sentence without the word "was".

Here are my example answers:

1. In 2006, 100% of mobile phone owners used their phones to make calls.

2. The next most popular functions were text messaging (73%) and taking photos (66%).

3. Game and music applications were less popular, with under 20% of mobile phone owners using these features.

4. In 2010, the use of mobiles to play games increased significantly.

Hi Simon,

Would you mind to look at my example answers and tell me what you think?

Regards,

Braulio

In 2006, users made 100% calls by mobile phone.

Text messaging was in second place and taking photos third.

Playing games and music were less popular, i.e less than 20% each.

In 2010, the use of mobiles to play games were increased significantly.

1.In 2006, 100% of mobile phone owners used their cell phones to make calls.
2. The next most popular features were text messaging (73%) and taking photos (66%).
3.Only less than 20% of mobile phone owners used their phones to play video games or listen to music.
3. By 2010, the percentage of people who played games on their mobiles (was)?? increased significantly. ( Sorry, still confused about " was" here.)

In 2006, 100 % of mobile phone users made calls on their phones.
The next function, text messaging, was used less regularly by mobile phone users and
ranked as second while taking photos came as third function respectively.

In contrast, playing games and music weren’t really popular. The percentage of users who used these functions were only 20% for each.
However, in 2010, the portion of users who play games on their phones was far bigger than in 2006

1. In 2006, 100% of calls were made by mobile phone users
2. Text messaging and taking photos were in the second and third place respectively.
3. Playing games and music were less popular being not more than 20% each.
4. In 2010, use of mobile phones to play games increased significantly.

Dear Simon
Can I use 100% mobile phone instead of 100% of mobile phone.

Dear Simon,

1. In 2006, the feature of making calls was used by all the users.

2. Message service and taking photos are the 2nd and 3rd most popular features respectively.

3. Features such as games and music player were less popular and only used by less than 20% of the total customers.

4. During 2010, the game users increased significantly.

About the last one:

May I used the word 2006-to-2008 to describe a period of time ?

the proportion of game users increased significantly over the 2006-to-2008 period.

Dear Simon
Can I use 100% mobile phone instead of 100% of mobile phone.
I have same question with Nancy

1. In 2006, all calls were made by mobile phone users.
2. Text messaging and taking photos was in the second and the third place.
3. Having less than 20 % each, playing games and music came out less popular.
4. In 2010, th usage of mobile phones for playing games significantly increased.

In 2006, mobile phones were used mostly to make calls. Text messaging and taking photos took second and third place simultaneously. while playing games and listening music were less popular and they accounted for less than 20% each. Again in 2010, there was significant increase in the use of mobile phones to play games.

now i am confused can we write mostly for 100%?
