Hello Simon,

Part 2 of Speaking section that I have already taken today morning (18/1) in Korea.

Describe a sport event that you watched or took part in. (When, Where, and Who ...)

And Writing section:

Task 1: Report about the average price tickets (Line chart) for performances and the average precentage of tickets sold (Bar chart) in two year (2010 and 2011, four quarters for each year)in a Theatre.

Take 2: Many children find it difficult to concentrate or pay their attention at school. What are the causes of this problem? What are some solutions for this problem?

Could you give us the advice to report for a combination of two charts? It seems to be more common with a combination of two charts in task 1 in recent tests.

Thank you!

Dear simon,
yesterday i had my speaking test and It was very awful experience, that the examiner continuously misguided me by her silent physical activity,i dont know what she really mean but her approach was like that she wanted to help me but every time i stopped when she showed me to understand something by her activity.is it the part of exam to misguide student by this sort of facial expressions??

FROM SIMON:

Here are my suggestions:

1. It has been in my family since the day my parents got married.

('in my family' is a nicer phrase than 'kept' for this kind of sentence. Don't write 'the day OF my parents got married')

2. Whenever a friend comes to visit, I feel proud to explain the history of this sword.

3. Colour televisions were not available at that time.

4. We aren't really sure how long it has been in our family.

5. This item has been in my house for as long as I can remember.

(You can't say 'piece of item'. 'For a long time' is fine, but I decided to add some variety with the phrase 'for as long as I can remember')

-It has been kept since since the day that my parents got married.
-Whenever my friend comes to visit me, I feel proud to explain the history of this sword.
-Any colour television was not available at that time.
-I have almost forgotten for a while how long it has been held in my family.
This old piece of item has been kept in my home for long time.

Hi Simon,

Can I ask, if I'm trying to speak by using complex sentence, but in the middle I found that I can't continue, might be due to I don't know what is that word in English, can I apologize and say that I need to rephrase my sentence?
I need you urgent advice because my speaking test is on this Wednesday. Thank you in advance.

HI PIYU
U Can apply for recheck your exam. One of my friend got 7.5 in speaking after rechecking. Before she got 6.5.

@lynn I have been there.speaking of experience : as long as rephrased properly it shouldn't be a problem. It shows that you are capable of realising your mistakes and correcting them.

3.Color television were not available in those times.

>Whenever my friend came to visit, I have (always) felt proud to explain the history of this sword.
