1. In passage, it is said that "Questions.... asked themselves (Concern) after 2008 crash". But what was peoples' status before 2008 is not given. Therefore, not given.

2. In the passage, Keynes prediction is that "no one would....work more than fifteen hours.., ..he was wrong, and we continue to work long hours". This is absolutely the same statement as it is told in the question "wide of the mark (Not on the target)". That's why it is True.

3. In the passage it is given, "they issue a call to think anew about what really matters in our lives". "Issue a call to think a new" is the synonym of question's statement " asks to consider" and "what really matters in our lives" is the same thing that is told in the question that"what is important in life". It's True.

Thanks

Hi everybody,
Reading tip 1:

Be careful about multiple nouns, and referents of nouns in the reading. For example, here in question 3 we have the book says and in the text we have they issue a call to think. So analyze well the question, after fully understanding the question, check the text.

Reading Tip 2:
Generalization is often used in IELTS readings. it is a kind of distraction sometimes used to confuse examinees esp in True,False and Not Given Questions. Thus, this point,I think, needs to be paid special attention in some questions.
Best,

Hi Simon. First thank you for your efforts here. You help so many people.

Second, I have a question. Recently, I took part in the exam and gave T,F,NOT answers in my answer sheet instead of True,False,Not given.
Should I be worried about losing grades?

Thanks

1. NG (nothing has mentioned about ideas before 2008)

2. F (Keynes’ prediction about working hours was wide of the mark. This sentence asks about Keynes’ prediction, not the writer's idea)

3. T (The book asks us to consider what is important in life.| Versus |they issue a call to think anew about what really matters in our lives and how to attain it.)

Above are my point of view.
