Hi,everyone. This is my answer.I'm not sure about whether it's right.
1. He loves ...
2. with it being visited by ...(lack subject)
3. a. with people lack of the sense;
or b. with people lacking the sense
because in first sentense the phrase is a none phrase.while in second lack is a v. phrase.

Hi everyone. This is my answer
1. He loves that girl who loves another boy.
2. The first idea is not ralated to the second. I think it should be"London is the world's sixth most expensive city, with the cost of living being as double high as that in my city.
3.City life is quite stressful, with people lacking of the sense of community.

Hi simon
I have some questions about writting
1.Can I use interrogative sentence in TASK2?
2.Some writting books told us that we need to add some data and proverbs to intensify argumentation (sometimes we should even make up some dada) Is that appropriate?
3.If the question of TASK2 is "which do you consider to be the major influence?" or "do you agree or disagree?" Dose that mean i should just choose one side instead of having a compromised opinion?
4.how do IELTS examiners grade TASK1? I mean does the content overweigh lexicon, cohension and sentence?
Looking forward to your reply.Thank you!

He loves that girl with being loved by another boy.
2.correct.
3,City life is quite stressful, with people lacking the sense of humor.

1. I’m afraid that “loving” as a verb does not exist. I think such verb tenses are just used in advertisements, the way McDonald’s use it, for instance.
Maybe we can say: “He loves that girl, while/but she loves another boy”. Or maybe “He loves that girl, while/but she is in love with another boy”.

2. There is no reasonable relation between these two mentioned facts. Maybe we can say: “London is the world’s sixth most expensive city, with an average monthly living cost of 500 pounds”.

3. Again, I don’t see any connection between these two phrases.

Hi Simon,

I think "and" and "with" are used to add more details that support the first point or at least do not oppose to it. Thus, they cannot be used in this circumstance.

2. London is..., with almost 1m tourists visiting it every day
OR
London, being visited by 1m tourists every day, is the...

Hi everyone!
I just wan to share some vocabulary with you:

I have always studied and practiced American English. Now, I have figured out that some of my mistakes in listening tests are just because most IELTS tests are designed based on British English rather than the American one. So, I decided to make a list of the words which are more commonly used in British English. Here’s my list out of the listening tests of Cambridge 6. However, I’m afraid that my spelling is still American.
Maybe this list can help others facing the same problem.

A keep-fit studio
Studio flat
Foyer
Dressing room
Box office
Licenced restaurant
Refectory
Buffet car
Staff canteen
Queue up
Enroll on/for
Enrollment for
Timescale
Scheme
Silver paper
Spot on
Current account/deposit account Signpost

I have also noticed that the following words are repeatedly used in the IELTS tests; either in the listening or reading section. Although I don’t find them generally useful, knowing their meaning might be good just for the exam.

Cattle, livestock, animal husbandry, sanctuary, herd, farmland, crop, cereal crops, barley, to plough, to breed

Have a nice day!

CORRECT ANSWERS FROM SIMON:

1. He loves that girl, but she loves another boy.

(You can't do a "with" sentence for the sentence above)

2. There are 2 problems with sentence 2:
- the two parts of the sentence are not related (the idea that London is expensive doesn't link well to the part about the number of visitors). To write a "with" sentence, both parts of the sentence need to be strongly connected.
- We need to change "with being visited".

Here's an example with both changes:

London is a popular destination for tourists, with almost 1 million people visiting the city each year.

3. Again, the 2 parts of the sentence need a stronger connection if we want to write a "with" sentence. Here's an example:

City life is stressful, with issues like the high cost of living and the lack of a sense of community contributING to inhabitants' feelings of anxiety.

wow!! Simon answer me !!The first sentence is mine.I cannot believe that !

Hi Neil,

Yes, I'm afraid you can't write a "with" sentence in that case. You need to use "but" - see my answers above your comment.

Hi,simon

I swa that. Thanks!

What it mean..

This is my answers :

2. London is the world's sixth most expensive city, with almost 1 millions visting the city each year.
