Correct answer is D.
mislead=confusion

Answer is

B

Hi simon
My answer is B because in passage it is given NEWSPAPERS AND BROADCASTERS ARE THERE TO PROVIDE WHAT PUBLIC WANTS. which means are intended to.
I hope I am able to explain you .
I will wait for your answer.
thanks for your everyday lesson it is of great help.
thanking you

The answer can only be from b or d , that is because there is no information about a or c in the passage.
Then we can eliminate b as the writer says "That, however, can lead to significant distortions of perception." so the only option left is d which is the right answer and makes sense.

my answer is 'D' but I'm not sure.

Hi Simon,
The answer is 'B' because in the paragraph its mention that the ' Newspapers and broadcasters are there to provide what the public wants.'.

B
Newspapers and broadcasters are there to provide what the public wants.

D

D mislead=significant distorations of perception.

B
Newspapers and broadcasters are there to provide what the public wants.

B
Keywords >> to provide what the public wants

answer is b. to provide what they want.

My answer is B.
We can clearly see that "meet the reader's expectation" match with " provide what the public want". For me, it is important to note that " intend to" mean plan to do something with its results in mind ^^

My answer is B
meet the readers' expectation matches- provide what the public want.

D - mislead readers

D - mislead readers

(i) .... source of confusion
(ii).....can lead to significantly distortion of perception.

My answer is B

b

D

my answer is B.

My answer is B.
Newspaper print items are contemplate to satify what their readers' wants.

This is a tricky question. The answer seems like B or D. The right answer goes this way:

People are curious about bad news.(fact)
Media provides what people want.(fact)--B intends to meet expectation
It can lead to significant distortions of perception.(possibility)--D mislead

So the correct answer is B. Because B is a fact which means 100% sure and D is not.

Dear Simon,
I think the answer is D. Because the sentence"significant distortions of perception."

B
... newspapers print items that are intended to "meet their readers' expectations." This could be rephrased to "newspapers and broadcasters are there to provide what the public wants," in the passage.

Newspapers don't "intend to" mislead readers. That's not their interest. Newspapers try to "meet their readers' expectations" to increase their sales.

ANSWER IS B

Hi Simon, my answer is B.
Because newspapers and broadcasters are there to provide what the public wants that is why can lead to significant distortions of perception.

My Ans is B..

Newspapers and broadcasters are there to provide what the public wants

My answer is D
mislead readers=can lead to significant distortions of perception
to give somebody the wrong idea or impression and make them believe something that is not true

I chose B. The passage says "Newspapers and broadcasters are there to provide (They intend to meet) what the public wants." (their expectations).

Answer: B

On the question, the phrase "newspapers print items that are intended to" has the same context as "Newspapers...are there to provide" from the passage.

Also, on the passage, the phrase "what the public wants" has the same context as "meet their readers' expectations", which therefore makes B the correct choice.

Choice D cannot be the answer because it is the forseen possible consequence of the real purpose of newspapers as stated on the passage. The leading word on the passage for this would be "however." The phrase "can lead to significant distortions of perception" on the passage has the same meaning as "mislead readers."

my answer is B

CORRECT ANSWER FROM SIMON:

B

meet readers' expectations = provide what the public wants

If you put 'D', please read some of the students' explanations above. Several people have explained why 'D' is wrong.

B

My answer is B, becaus the the key word in the question Newspapers and print items are intended to meet reader's expectations has the same meaning as the phrase in passage --
Newspapers and broadcasters are there to provide what the publc wamts.

what is the right answer then? I got confused in the real exam as well as I got 7.5 but need an 8.

It cannot be D because it leads but not intend to do so.

B 100% right one

yea,,,,,,B

@ andy
7.5???im hanging out in js 6.

D - writer suggest - mislead
