One reason why section 4 is difficult is that you might hear the answer to a question before you hear the 'keywords' from the question. Here's an example to show you what I mean:
Question (from Cambridge IELTS 7):
Undiscovered material may be damaged by ______.
When listening to the recording, you are waiting to hear the keywords "undiscovered material" and "damaged by", and you are hoping to hear the answer after hearing those keywords.
This is what you hear:
Don't make fires, however romantic it may seem. It's really dangerous in dry areas, and you can easily burn priceless undiscovered material by doing so.
Can you see that the answer came before the keywords "undiscovered material"? What is the correct answer?
Note:
There isn't a special technique to help you with this type of question; you just need to be aware that you might have heard the answer before you hear the 'keywords'.

Hi Simon, love your webiste, wish I could have more time to read them all.
Could I ask you a question about speaking section? If the question is about your town, eg. transport in your town, does this mean my current town in UK or my hometown? Also, if the questions continue to ask me to compare with the transport 50 years ago, should I compare that in my hometown, or should I compare the town I live now in the UK with my hometown 50 years ago?
Thank you very much. Hope this makes sense to you.

FROM SIMON:
Correct answer:
fires
(the singular 'fire' would also be accepted).
...
I'm afraid I no longer have time to answer everyone's questions individually. I'll try to answer some of them in a lesson every Saturday.

The problem is when we read the piece of listening section, we can give right answers as many people have given right answer above. However, it is very hard to give correct answer when we listen this in listening form.So section 4 is quite difficult to tackle. I would personally recommend those IELTS candidates who want to achieve 7 just make a mistake as follows:
section 1-1
Section 2-2
section 3-3
section 4-4
Your overall mistakes are10 and you have 30 correct answers which mean you you get band 7.
